You might have noticed a new trend sweeping through your Instagram feed. With the help of an artificial intelligence-generated app called Lensa, your friends are transforming themselves into digital art.

Lensa AI is currently the most popular free app in the Apple App Store, but you must pay to use the AI artwork feature.

Lensa debuted as a photo editing app in 2018, but the company recently added a new feature called “Magic Avatars.” These artificial intelligence-generated digital self-portraits transform you into works of art in a variety of themes, ranging from pop to fairy princesses to anime.

It is Lensa AI free ?

You are entitled to a 7-day free trial. Following that, subscription fees vary, with yearly unlimited access ranging from $14.99 to $49.99. You must pay an additional $3.99 for 50 images to use the “Magic Avatar” tool.

Here’s how to give it a shot for yourself.

How to create digital art with Lensa

With releases such as ChatGPT and Dall-E, there has been a surge in generative AI in recent months. ChatGPT, which has also recently gone viral, is an AI chatbot with a lot of potential. You can ask it to write poems and stories for you, or you can ask it questions. Dall-E is an AI-powered text-to-image generator created by OpenAI, the same organization that created ChatGPT. You enter some text, and it generates an image.

Lensa runs on the open-source image generator Stable Diffusion.

Find out how you can download Lensa AI. Here’s where to begin:

(Step by Step guide)

  1. Download Lensa AI for iPhone or Android.
  2. Open the app.
  3. Click the Photos tab.
  4. You’ll see a yellow button that says Magic Avatars
  5. It will warn you that there may be inaccuracies in images, such as defects and artifacts, and you must agree to those terms before proceeding. Creating images with multiple heads or limbs is one of these inaccuracies. This did not happen to me, but I did see some images that produced two different eye colors.
  6. You’ll be asked to upload 10 to 20 selfies after clicking “continue.” The app suggests using close-ups, adult images, a variety of backgrounds, and different facial expressions. It advises users to avoid group photos, child photos, photos with their faces covered, and naked photos.
  7. The app says “Photos will be immediately deleted from our servers after the Avatars are ready.”
  8. After you’ve chosen 10-20 selfies, you’ll be asked to choose your gender.
  9. It’s finally time to pay. Prices are 51% off for subscribers, so 50 avatars cost $3.99, 100 pictures cost $5.99, and 200 images cost $7.99.
  10. After about 20 minutes, you’ll receive notification that your avatars are ready for viewing and saving. Avatars will be sent to you in a variety of styles, including Fantasy, Fairy Princess, Focus, Pop, Stylish, Anime, Light, Kawaii, Iridescent, and Cosmic.

Lensa raises privacy and intellectual property concerns

Some privacy experts are concerned that the Lensa app, despite its claims, may keep the photos you upload.

However, any app that collects data from a phone may also collect other private information. According to Pisma Labs’ terms of service, the company does not “require or request any metadata attached to the photos you upload, metadata (including, for example, geotags) may be associated with your photos by default.”

In other words, even if you unintentionally give the app access to your location or personal information, it’s unclear whether you are doing so.
