WhatsApp users will soon be able to ask others to join a call more easily. Meta is introducing the ability to share Call Links. You can join a call with a single tap if you see one of these links. To use Call Links, you must have the most recent version of WhatsApp. Select the Call Links option from the app’s Calls tab. You can then create a link to share with family and friends for a voice or video call.
It’s a useful feature that Apple has already adopted. The company began selling sharable FaceTime links last year, allowing others to join talks from Android devices and Windows PCs. While Apple allows users to book calls in advance using links, a WhatsApp spokeswoman confirmed that a similar functionality will not be available.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has begun testing encrypted group video calls for up to 32 participants, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. More information on this front will be released soon by the company.
