Ubisoft has changed its mind after nearly four years of not releasing new games on Steam. The French company has confirmed that three of his most recent releases will be released on the market-leading Valve platform.
‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ will kick off the return. The game, which will be released in 2020, will be available on Steam beginning December 6. ‘Anno 1800’ and ‘Roller Champions’ will also be released, though the exact dates have yet to be determined.
Ubisoft provided no specific reason for their games’ availability on Steam. However, it’s unlikely that Steam’s sheer size influenced the decision. The Valves store is still the most popular gaming console. The Epic Games Store is growing in popularity as a result of the free games that Epic Games provides to its users, but it has yet to reach Steam.
When Ubisoft pre-sold “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2” (The Division 2) in 2019, it began to transition to the Epic Games Store, which does not require a 30% profit share for commercial reasons, and also claimed to have 6 times Multiple order numbers. However, time has proven that Steam’s massive player base cannot be ignored, and more Steam Deck hosts have been launched.
Ubisoft may also not believe Steam’s business model is completely unrealistic, given Valve’s efforts to make Steam more appealing to developers.
