Are you ready for the return of Periscope? Elon Musk certainly is! The innovative entrepreneur and tech mogul recently used old Periscope tech for a live video session on Twitter, sparking new interest in the once-popular video streaming platform.

Periscope: The Rise and Fall of a Revolutionary Video Streaming Platform

Elon Musk Brings Periscope Back to Life with Twitter Video Session

Elon Musk, the innovative billionaire and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has always been a fan of Periscope, a once-popular video streaming platform that was acquired by Twitter in 2015. Although the platform was shut down in 2021, Musk has decided to bring it back to life with a quick video session on Twitter.

The video, which was streamed on Wednesday, shows Musk testing the live video feature of Periscope using old code from 2015. In the video, Musk comments on the low resolution of the video, and someone else, presumably a Twitter developer, responds that the issue hasn’t been fixed in eight years. Despite the outdated code, Musk says that it “basically works,” and that they are testing the live video feature to see if it works and can be modified accordingly.

Periscope was a revolutionary video streaming platform when it was first launched in 2014. It gained massive popularity, with millions of users streaming live video content on the platform. Twitter saw the potential in the platform and acquired it for a reported $100 million in March 2015. However, the hype around Periscope quickly died down, and the platform was shut down in 2021 due to declining usage and rising costs.

Musk, who is known for his love of technology and innovation, has always been a vocal advocate for Periscope and its potential. In a tweet from 2016, he said that “Periscope is the future,” and he has been experimenting with the platform for years.

During his impromptu Periscope session on Twitter, Musk spent much of the video complaining about the hearts that were showing up on the screen. However, the hearts were not visible in replays of the video.

Musk’s Love for Periscope and Vine: A Look at the Tech Mogul’s History with Live Video Streaming

Musk’s interest in Periscope is not surprising, given his history with video streaming. In addition to his work with SpaceX and Tesla, he is also the founder of The Boring Company, which recently launched a video game on its website that allows users to tunnel through the earth using a virtual boring machine.

Musk‘s interest in video streaming also extends to Twitter’s other video app, Vine. In a tweet from 2015, he said that he loved Vine and that it was “like a window into humanity.” He also tweeted in 2017 that he was “loving Vine 2,” referring to a possible new version of the app.

Although Twitter has not announced any plans to revive Periscope or Vine, Musk’s interest in the platforms could lead to their resurgence. Musk’s massive following on social media could also help bring attention to the platforms and spark new interest in live video streaming.

Share the news of Elon Musk’s Periscope video session on Twitter, which has sparked renewed interest in the once-popular video streaming platform. Despite Periscope’s shutdown in 2021, Musk’s love for the platform could lead to its revival and inspire innovation in live video streaming. Don’t miss out on the potential resurgence of this revolutionary platform!
