In addition to the 12T smartphone series, Xiaomi announced today that its Robot Vacuum X10+, which launched in China in April, is now coming to Europe. This is the most versatile robot vacuum the firm has ever produced: It can not only vacuum with 4,000Pa suction and mop with pressured dual spinning pads, but it can also autonomously clear its garbage, replenish its water tank, wash and dry its mops with heat using its base station. Overall, the robot vacuum should require little maintenance; simply refill the base station’s water reservoir and empty its waste water tank and dust bin on a regular basis.

This isn’t the first time Xiaomi has introduced a robot vacuum with both mop-cleaning and mop-drying capabilities; it did it roughly a year ago for the Chinese market. Other versions need you to separate and wash the mop manually, which isn’t the most pleasant task in the world. Even if the mop appears clean after each run, it will eventually get stinky owing to the moisture stimulating fungus development. That is obviously unacceptable.

With its multi-functional base station, the X10+ solves this difficulty. When docked, the two mops will be cleaned below using spinning wet brushes, followed by a two-hour low-heat drying session. Basically, you won’t have to touch the mops again until they need to be replaced due to wear and tear. The X10+ can also detect carpets with its ultrasonic sensors, at which point it will automatically lift its mops.

The X10+, like its predecessors, use LDS (laser distance sensor) for interior mapping and navigation. It also has Xiaomi’s proprietary “S-Cross AI” technology, which uses some software trickery along with the machine’s dual-line laser and RGB camera to distinguish the types of things ahead and estimate the appropriate clearing distance for each of them. Assume you have a weighing scale in your living room; the X10+ will keep a 2cm to 4cm distance from it just in case. When it comes to basic furniture, such as a coffee table or a couch, the robot can walk right up to them and conduct its typical responsibilities. For anyone concerned about adding another camera to their personal area, Xiaomi has registered for a TÜV Rheinland Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Standard Certificate for the X10+.

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ will be sold in Europe for 899 euros (about $900). When compared to the $1,099 Roomba Combo j7+, which is also available today, Xiaomi clearly has a price edge, especially given that few competitors offer both self-cleaning and self-drying features on their mopping robots, let alone combining these with automatic dust bin emptying.
